Chapter 7 in Multiple Intelligences talks about the environmental factors that go into learning. The chapter also give examples of guiding questions for the teacher to ask in terms of assessing how each intelligence is being met through the environment. I like how these guiding questions push a teacher to really think about how their students will learn. Looking at the intelligences I have, Musical and Logical, I think that the questions are spot on as a musically intelligent person I love to have music on when I am working. As a logically intelligent person I appreciate consistency and rhythm. I do not like unorganized teachers. Chapter 9 talks about the premise of Multiple Intelligence schools. They create a learning environment that promotes the growth of all intelligences. In schooling certain intelligences were not considered important; they were not encouraged to grow. I do not think I will work in a Multiple intelligences school but this information will be helpful to me on a smaller scale in the classroom.
Chapter 13 is about the other uses of the Multiple Intelligences Theory. There are three categories; Computer Technology, Cultural Diversity, and Career Counseling. Using and understanding technology can fall into any of the intelligence categories because of how broad technology can be. There is a list of technologies that fit into different intelligences that will be helpful for project planning. Cultural Diversity can be affected because no matter what culture people come from they will all have one or more of the learning styles. So even if a student does not know English they may be able to draw thoughts or interact with people that same way that people of other cultures may. Multiple Intelligences can be important for career counseling because certain careers will appeal more to certain intelligences and if a student does not know what they want to do their intelligence can help to decide.
Chapter 14 is about existential intelligences. After reading this chapter I am still slightly confused about what exactly that intelligence is. I think that existential intelligences are about thinking about life and the world as a whole. They ask the question why and how to anything. This is a controversial intelligence to bring into a classroom because of potential religious beliefs students may have. I think that since existential thinking does not have a religious basis that it should be aloud in schooling.
